Studio Guidelines, Best Practices & Heart-Centered Policies

Hey y’all! Welcome to Oklahoma Yoga. We are so grateful to have you in our community! Our goal is to provide a high-quality, peaceful experience in our cozy yoga nook. Because we limit our class capacity to just 10 participants, we are excited to offer a semi-private experience within our regular weekly group classes, ensuring you have elbow room and personal attention.
We’re always working hard to make the studio a place of peace and safety.
A Note on Digital Peace:

Our Stance on Marketing & Connection: The world teaches us that the best way to market is via social media ads. At Oklahoma Yoga, we simply don’t buy it. We believe in the power of word-of-mouth, personal connection, relationships, and community. To us, the best recommendation is a personal one.

Social Media & The Yamas: While we use social media for basic marketing, we never use it for communication or connection. To be very honest, we believe that the current direction of social media goes against the laws and best practices of the Yamas & Niyamas of yoga, especially the first Yama, Ahimsa (non-harming). We do as little as we can get away with on those platforms to limit “noise,” distractions, and harm to our collective peace.

Our Stance on AI: We believe that AI can cause more harm than good when used irresponsibly or foolishly. At Oklahoma Yoga, we use common sense when it comes to AI. You will never catch us posting or using weird-looking, AI-generated photos, and we certainly will not use it to create our thoughts or mission. We use AI strictly as a tool to help us with spelling (DeeDee is notorious for spelling errors!), grammar, punctuation, and clarity. When you reach out, you will always speak with a real-life human.

A Peaceful Inbox: We do our best to limit as much “noise” and “bings and bongs” (excessive notifications) as possible.

Source of Truth: The Oklahoma Yoga app and website are our only “sources of truth.” Our class calendar is a living thing and is the first place updated when a change occurs. Please rely on them for the best, most up-to-date information.

A Personal Touch: All messages go to DeeDee (who is actually the one writing this and feels weird talking in the 3rd person, but hey, we are making it work!). While the turn-around time is usually quite speedy, please allow 24 to 48 hours for a response so I can stay present with my family and the studio.

The Team Behind the Scenes: We do not have a “front desk staff.” Front-end administration is handled by studio owner and manager, DeeDee, and the back-end digital experience is managed by her husband, Michael. Our teachers are directed to do what they do best: teach from the heart and take care of their students. If you have questions regarding membership, the client portal, or passwords, please reach out directly to DeeDee using our email or phone numbers on the studio info.

The Hospitality Team: We are so proud of our small, but growing “Hospitality Team” of students and members who volunteer to help us with the studio (a spot of cleaning, passing out studio flyers, or helping table an event). If you are a member or a student who loves the studio, has the gift of hospitality, please come and speak with us!

To ensure we can prepare the best possible experience for you, we ask that you pre-register for all classes and events.

The Power of the Pre-Book: Pre-booking guarantees your spot in our 10-person classes and helps our teachers better prepare for your arrival.

The Waitlist: If a class is full, please join the waitlist! If a spot opens up, the next person will automatically be moved in and notified.

The Essentials: Before your first class, please ensure you have an active client portal, a saved payment method, and a signed digital waiver.

Customizing Your Practice: If you need something specific like Prenatal Yoga, we offer those as small group sessions or private appointments. We can also create bespoke private parties for your tribe that do not appear on the regular schedule.

Check-In: We’d love for you to arrive 10 minutes early. We’d truly hate for you to miss your practice, so please aim for that 10-minute window so you can settle in without rushing!

Protecting the Peace: We offer a 5-minute grace period. However, once the door is locked and the curtain is drawn, we won’t be able to answer the door to protect the focus and “zen” of the students already on their mats.

Digital Detox: Please turn your phone completely off or to Do Not Disturb before coming inside.

Shoes & Scents: Please remove shoes upon entry and skip heavy perfumes so everyone can breathe deeply.

Mats: Rentals for our Manduka PRO mats are $5 (free for Members!).

We share our space with some wonderful neighbors, Sycamore Salvage. Being a good neighbor is a core part of our practice.

Our Spots: We have 10 dedicated spots available for our students during normal hours.

The Second Saturday Exception: Our neighbors at Sycamore Salvage open their doors to the public on the Second Saturday of every month from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Because shop workers arrive at 9:00 am and early bird shoppers often arrive by 9:30 am, we gift our 10 parking spots to them on this day.

If you are attending a Saturday morning class on the Second Saturday, please park across the street at the school (18th & Missouri). This applies even if you plan to shop at the salvage yard after class. Keeping these spots open is part of our agreement that allows us to keep the studio open and running during their busy sale days.

We know that life is beautifully unpredictable! These policies help us honor our teachers’ time and ensure that students on a waitlist have the opportunity to move onto a mat.

The Living Calendar: As mentioned above, our app/website calendar is the first place updated. Because we do not post class changes on social media, please always check the app for the latest updates.

Weekly Classes: If you find that you can’t make it to class, we completely understand. To help us out, please jump into the app or go online to cancel at least 2 hours before the class start time.

Note on Late Cancels: Cancellations made within that 2-hour window or No-Shows result in a lost credit for pack holders and Limited Members, or a $10 fee for Unlimited Members.

A Note on Class Minimums: We require at least 2 people for a class to stay on our schedule.

Standard Classes: If a class has 0–1 registrations 2 hours before start time, it will be cancelled.

Early Morning Exception: For those early birds starting at 9:00 am or earlier, we check the roster at 9:00 pm the previous evening. If the minimum isn’t met by then, we will cancel the class so everyone can enjoy a little extra sleep!

When We Cancel: If Oklahoma Yoga needs to cancel for any reason (low enrollment, weather, or teacher illness, etc.) we will notify you promptly via the app/email and automatically credit the class back to your account.

Our wonderful teachers are the heart of Oklahoma Yoga. Most of our team members balance full-time day jobs and often travel from outside of Chickasha specifically to share their practice with our students.

Holiday Schedules: To honor our teachers’ time with their own families, holiday classes are held at the discretion of the individual teacher.

Studio Breaks: During major holiday seasons, the studio may have a limited schedule or be closed. We will always update the app and website well in advance.

To keep our focus on yoga and minimize administrative “noise,” we have a few simple billing standards.

Payment Methods: We accept cash, credit, debit, and ACH. Using debit or ACH helps us keep our processing fees low! Please note: We are unable to accept checks.

Monthly Memberships: These memberships are designed for ease and consistency. They require a saved method of payment on file because they are set to automatically renew each month.

Honoring Our Legacy: If you are a long-time student with an older membership contract, please know that we continue to honor the specific terms and rates of your original agreement. We value your loyalty and commitment to this space!

Contract-Free Pricing (New Memberships): Current monthly and annual memberships are flexible and contract-free. Class Packs are paid in full with a 6-month expiration.

Final Sales: All sales are final. We don’t offer refunds, but we can help you transfer a credit to a friend with advance notice.
