CODE OF CONDUCT

At Oklahoma Yoga, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students and teachers. Our Code of Conduct is inspired by the principles of Yamas and Niyamas, the ethical guidelines of yoga, and is designed to foster a positive and supportive community. We strictly prohibit any form of discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behavior. This policy applies to all individuals, including students, teachers, staff, and visitors. By participating in our classes, workshops, and events, or using our facilities, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.

  1. Ahimsa (Non-violence): We believe in treating all individuals with kindness, compassion, and respect. Physical, verbal, or emotional violence toward others will not be tolerated.
  2. Satya (Truthfulness): We value honesty and transparency in all communications. Misleading or dishonest behavior is not acceptable.
  3. Asteya (Non-stealing): Respect the personal belongings and intellectual property of others. Stealing, unauthorized use, or reproduction of content, materials, or ideas is strictly prohibited.
  4. Brahmacharya (Moderation): Maintain a balanced and respectful approach in all interactions. Avoid any excessive or inappropriate behavior.
  5. Aparigraha (Non-possessiveness): Recognize and respect the individuality of others. Avoid imposing your beliefs or possessions on others.
  6. Saucha (Purity and Cleanliness): Maintain personal hygiene and keep the studio and common areas clean and tidy.
  7. Santosha (Contentment): Practice gratitude and contentment. Avoid complaining or engaging in negative talk.
  8. Tapas (Self-discipline): Commit to your practice and show dedication to personal growth.
  9. Svadhyaya (Self-study): Respect and support each other’s journey of self-discovery and learning.
  10. Ishvara Pranidhana (Surrender to a higher power): Respect diverse beliefs and spiritual practices. Avoid imposing your beliefs on others.

Sexual Harassment and Discrimination: We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of sexual harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature. This includes unwelcome advances, comments, or gestures. All individuals are entitled to respect, safety, and dignity.

Reporting Incidents: If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, including sexual harassment or discrimination, we encourage you to report it to our management or staff immediately. All reports will be treated confidentially and with sensitivity. Appropriate action will be taken to address the issue, which may include disciplinary measures, up to and including termination of membership or participation.

Teacher Responsibility: Our teachers are held to the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. They are responsible for creating a supportive and safe environment for students. Teachers must lead by example, following the Code of Conduct and Yamas & Niyamas, and refrain from any behavior that may be harmful or disrespectful.

Student Responsibility: As students, you are an integral part of our community. We expect you to adhere to the Code of Conduct and Yamas & Niyamas, treating fellow students, teachers, and staff with respect and kindness. Your commitment to these principles contributes to a positive and harmonious yoga experience for everyone.

Consequences of Violations: Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in various consequences, depending on the severity of the incident. Consequences may include verbal warnings, suspension from classes or events, or termination of membership or participation.

We believe that by upholding the principles of Yamas and Niyamas and maintaining a strong commitment to respect and inclusivity, Oklahoma Yoga will continue to be a welcoming space for all individuals to explore the transformative power of yoga.
